This is Cupid. We are trying her out. She is a rescue puppy and I love her.
No we did not have any plans for a puppy. It's kind of a fluke. A friend of ours adopted one of Cupid's brothers and we heard about Cupid.
See, Cupid is one of a litter of eight puppies, all of them named after Santa's Reindeer.
Well according to my friend, there was a huge crowd of people wanting to adopt these puppies. They held up Cupid and said, who is interested in adopting this puppy? Half the room raised their hands. Cupid is wonderful; docile, cuddly and fuzzy warm and soft. Who wouldn't want her?
Well, then the rescue people explained that there is one thing everyone needed to know about Miss Cupid. She has a limb difference. Her front right paw is smaller and shorter than the rest. It doesn't stop her from doing anything. She gets around great. She's a great dog.
Now who wants her?
Very few people raised their hand.
All of Cupid's brothers and sisters were adopted that day. Cupid went home with a foster mom.
I heard this story and felt a lot of things. Sad, bewildered and a little angry on Cupid's behalf. It didn't seem fair.
And I also have to admit a bit of the mother bear came out in me. A limb difference doesn't make one less valuable. At least it shouldn't.
So The Husband and I thought about it for several days and decided we wanted to meet Cupid. Her foster mom brought her to our house. We all think she's fabulous but The Husband isn't sure about having a dog. They are letting us try her out for a week.
Well...I'm in love.
She's great. So cute. And her limb difference is a non-issue. Yes, she hops a little when she runs but she's still pretty fast. She's fantastic.
The Husband is still not sure but the boys and I are sold. We love Cupid.
She rarely barks, she's mostly house trained, she sleeps in her crate at night she's cuddly and cute. She's a really good dog.
Don't tell The Husband but I'm pretty sure we're keeping her.
